Yokota Update

The poor sticker guru from Retrobike has been working his fingers to the bone mocking up replacement decals for every Tom Dick and Harry on the board...me included. Here's a progress report on the Yokota decals. Moving right along...

Free Crap!

Fun on the interweb. I answered a random trivia question on Retrobike, posted by another random board member there, and won some cool random crap!

Titanium water bottle bolts and red cable crimps. Schwing!

Used socks. Uh... Schwing?

Assortment of stickers for my apparently under decorated Rocky Mountain Avalanche! Schwing-schwing-schwingaroo!

My favorite word, 'free', coupled with my favorite humor topic, 'crap'. What fun!

Cabinet for the porch

What to do with the plywood doors from the shed, now that there is a proper door on that sucker. How about a cabinet for the porch?

All salvaged material from the old shed doors. Just add circular saw and screws. Instant porch furniture. I have a need for some new cabinet doors in the kitchen and when I tackle that project, I'll also make doors for this sucker, and I'm considering tiling the top, in preperation for tiling the entire porch floor.

And I have to paint the Brodie,

And I have to spread the rye seed for the fall.

And I have to run the co-ax for the bedroom TV.

And I have to punch myself in the face.

Bad Idea

Rear suspension, not a bad idea in and of itself, but...

...this?

What!?

Syncros Hang-doggy

The Syncros Hang-doggy cantilever brake cable hanger. I need one of these for the Brodie, 1.125" threadless. If you have a spare give me a shout.

Brodie need Hang-doggy. You have Hang-doggy, me pay big dollar. How many times can I type Hang-doggy?

Flea Bay

Cook Bros Racing seat post clamp and quick release.

AMP F1 suspension fork with black legs and a steerer tube long enough to actually allow the fork to be fitted to a real person's bike. Most of these have steerer tubes trimmed up so short the fork is useless decoration without a rebuild from the folks back at AMP...who now mostly have their hands full with pick-up truck bed extenders and the like.

Monkeys chewed on the steerer tube base on this one though. It will take some cleaning up. At least there is a cantilever brake hanger.

Porno-Vaseline-Sepia quality pictures make a fair evaluation of the condition of the thing a bit of a crapshoot, but hey...you know what they say about porn...

"One man's monkey-chewed steerer tube is another man's..."

Summer in Tsali

Spotted in line at the ATM...

The required overlook picture.

And the artsy variant of the above.

Overlook dos. Note headlights are ablaze. I'm hard core.

*
The old girl. Still going strong after 20 years of camping. Been a good tent. This trip...the first signs of leakage. I'll have to seal the seams.
*

I don't bring much these days. I'm not 'Expo Ready' as the EE guys joke. They would not approve of my roof-top sarcophagus of fun though. Or my Action Packer. Or my cooler for that matter. Or that the whole lot is in a car-camping paradise. Then again, they don't approve of much, so I'll live.

Wall of shame begins with a lone Rolling Rock. I was by myself for the first few hours and it was a welcome change to the 9 hour drive.

Next morning, Paul and I hit the NOC for grub. It was sub-par, but the views of the humid morning and the river were nice. Paul was the only other one from the old crew to make the trip, although his friend Mark came up for a night.

Flash to end of trip pictures. There was a drunken interlude here of 2 days, where the weather didn't cooperate with our plans to ride. Actually not too drunken I guess. The wall of shame has been more shameful than this, for sure.

The walk to take Utah his ball. Paul and I took the stroll.

The Ball.

The Lake.

Ball in Lake. Until next time, old friend.
It's been 3 years since Utah passed away and I think about him still. All the time. He was a good critter.

Shoving off. The trails were a little wet from the rain, but the lake was high, so that is a fair trade off in the grand scheme of things.

Porsche

I almost...ALMOST thought this was a Porsche. Then I realized my mistake. Porsche snobs are way too Euro trash for Harley Davidson stickers. Now if that were a Triumph sticker then he might'a fooled me.

Actually, it could be that he likes to picnic in the great outdoors, and the car compliments that interest by featuring a built in picnic table.

I did not take this picture in South East Georgia, so I cannot comment on whether or not the owner can read.

South Georgia day trip

To close out the summer here in North East Florida, we left North East Florida and headed to South East Georgia...otherwise known as North North East Florida. Specifically, we visited St Mary's, on the Atlantic coast.

St Mary's is the stepping off point to the Cumberland Seashore.

Here Kristen is intentionally pointing away from Cumberland Island, to confuse some tourists in from Cleveland.

There are many rules in St Mary's, and many signs filled with said rules. There are also many people in St Mary's who cannot read.

"No Illegal Substances Allowed" says the sign. I mean really...isn't it enough that the substances are illegal? Do we need to tell people that they can't bring their illegal crap out in public when we've already told them they can't even own it?

"That aint Bethesda Fountain!"

Looking out over the water.

St Mary's has more shared lane marking than Jacksonville. They also don't seem to have a width requirement for roadways which are getting the 'sharrow' treatment either.

Beautiful weather and a fun day all around. On our way home, we did make a wrong turn and wind up at the gate of the Nuclear Sub Base at Kings Bay though... Oops.

Random Communist

eBay fail

I let this one slide on to another buyer a few weeks back. No reason to get super hot and sweaty over a black one. I may be a slut for SDGs but I'm a selective slut.

And this is a lesson in timing. There hadn't been a set of Alteks listed on the flea for some time, so when one dude listed a silver pair and it went for big money, the feeders came out to list theirs and hope to tag onto the frenzy. It didn't work. This set only sold for $93 bucks, just one short week after...

...this set sold for $219!

Timing is everything. Well, that and red Kevlar.

Other new additions...

Went to pick up the Brodie on the recent trip to NC, and lo-and-behold!...look what follows me home!

Merecedes Benz branded AMP B4

AND an early IF!

Admittedly the AMP-Benz has a buyer already, but still...I've lost my mind.
